CITYDATA.ai, the global leader in geospatial intelligence for smarter cities, announced today the formation of the UniverCity Council in partnership with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and academic researchers.

What is the UniverCity Council ?

The UniverCity Council is a public+private+academic advisory board created to add executive perspective and insight into the data needs and use cases of the cities, counties, and municipalities around the world.

What is the mission of the UniverCity Council ?

The UniverCity Council focuses on public sector themes including infrastructure, mobility, energy, sustainability, economic growth, and disaster resilience. The insights and recommendations from the Council enable data companies and private-sector enterprise businesses to collaborate with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions to make informed data-driven decisions, manage risks, and reduce costs.

Who's invited to join the UniverCity Council ?

The UniverCity Council is an invitation-only community developed and nurtured by the founding council members. The Council is comprised of experienced leaders from both the public and private sectors as well as academic researchers with a strong desire to help government entities achieve their goals for the greater good. The members represent a collection of unique and talented individuals who share a common interest in applying geospatial data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to solve real-world problems with a focus on civic use cases. The community is hosted and maintained by CITYDATA.ai.

What is the time commitment for Council members ?

The typical time commitment for members does not exceed an one hour each month. In return, CITYDATA.ai and affiliated data partners commit to contribute data+services to a city municipality or an organization of each member's choice. For each hour contributed by a council member, CITYDATA.ai and affiliated data partners will contribute USD $100 worth of data+services to a city municipality or an organization nominated by the council member, with a maximum cap of USD $1200/year. The data+services are meant to jump start the projects and initiatives discussed by the Council members.

What are the launch activities for the Council ?

The initial steps and launch activities are as outlined below:

  1. Council members are invited to join the Slack channel and connect with the global community for public + private + academic collaboration.
  2. Council members are encouraged to record an inaugural 9-minute video interview or podcast to discuss the trends and challenges in public-sector data collection, analysis, and insights (details to come).
  3. Video interviews will be widely published and promoted through our network of customers, clients, partners, and suppliers via traditional social media channels like LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Press Releases and hosted on the website: UniverCity.ai.
  4. The first Council meeting will be schedule for the last week in February. While the first meeting will be a virtual call for our global participants, we are hopeful that many of us will be able to get together at local offices or co-working spaces for future  in-person meetings.
